With FUTURA into the future

With the HHS-FUTURA (Hohner Hybrid Stitcher), the machinery builder from Tuttlingen has set another milestone in its company history. The ultimate concept with up to five functions can grow modularly and flexibly with the needs at any time – in terms of technology, quantity and diversity. FUTURA is unique for the completely free choice of the point in time of the possible expansion, but above all due to its many possible combinations of the individual components.

First installation successes
The modular design allows the ability to assemble the components in a very individual way depending on the requirements. At least 17 different combinations of the saddle stitching system are available to the user, eight of them even in parallel operation mode. An automated stitching station with an intuitive and text-free 15-inch touch screen and a trimmer for a B4 end format with optimal cutting quality are the basis of the Futura. For example, the cross cutter, creasing fold unit and saddle stitcher can be freely configured in addition to the five feeder variants. The user-friendliness and the robust machine construction are also properties that increase the guaranteed success in the market. Two French companies that are specialized in the production of customized print products have already opted for the Futura, both with roll unwinding. The collating towers are in the test phase in Germany now.

Appreciated worldwide as an expert
As an expert in saddle stitching and market leader in the field of stitching heads, Hohner knows the market. The Futura arose from experience with the hybrid saddle stitchers Digi-Finisher and Digi-FS 9 as well as new market requirements: a long term configurable and expandable machine concept that copes with the trend of smaller runs and more diverse individual products. With this, and with Hohner's overall package, the success continues also abroad. While Hohner had to give up the UK branch due to the Brexit situation, the US business is being further expanded with a new employee. Olivier Poli, Managing Director of Hohner MAG SL, also stimulates Hohner sales in South America, North Africa, France, Portugal and Spain. As a result, with the support of open houses, Hohner was able to further expand its international reputation as a specialist for saddle stitching and as a competent machinery builder in the graphic arts industry.

First entrance as a contract manufacturer
As a supplier, Susanne Schöllhorn - Marketing & PR - introduces the Hohner company with a new business area, "The expansion of in-house production with the latest technology means that Hohner can now also act as a contract manufacturer. A first booth is planned at the IE+ in Freiburg from March 16th to 18th, 2022. Here we will present the broad spectrum of parts production to a larger audience of experts.” Unfortunately, the show was cancelled in between due to the pandemic. Sales Manager Uwe Buhmann adds, “The latest generation of manufacturing technology, paired with 90 years of experience in mechanical engineering, grant our competence, quality, adherence to schedules and customer orientation. Our milling manufacturing machinery offers ideal conditions to produce prototypes as well as medium and small series.”

Equipped for the most complex parts
"Every day, the most complex parts are manufactured in our processing centers at the highest technological level with the necessary expertise. As a machine builder (and therefore with our own experience), we know the importance of precision. Qualified specialists, including ten design engineers with broad knowledge of materials and specific know-how - from programming to five-axis milling, can now also meet the requirements of customers outside the graphics industry," adds Susanne Schöllhorn.
